Our Deeds Worthy Of Song (Honest!)
A downloadable TTRPG
You are adventurers, of course, but what good is that if no one hears about the great deeds and amazing feats you've achieved? And who better to tell those tales than you, who were actually there?
For the price of a decent bed, drink and dinner, you are glad to regale the host of a tavern or inn with the stories of what you've done on your quests, and thus grow the fame and fortune of your adventuring party throughout the land. In the torchlight and over a few ales, you tell your collective version of what happened when you faced the Vampire Queen, slew the Bog Monster of Slawnish, or stole the Crown Jewels of Heslandia.
Of course, not everything you say will be quite believable, or true, and you might find that some of the real details, when you're pressed, are less impressive than you initially made them out to be. But that's okay, as long as it makes a good story.
Our Deeds Worthy Of Song (Honest!) (ODWOSH for short) is a tabletop roleplaying game partly inspired by the card game Braggart, using a 2d12 system with ability scores inspired by modular arithmetic (sometimes called "clock maths", modular arithmetic loops back to zero after reaching a maximum number, like 12 on a clock face). It is low-peril (the fact that you're telling the story implies you survived!) with the excitement coming from how epic or embarrassing your deeds actually were.
The game is intended for one or more Adventurers (3 to 5 is probably best) and a Tavern Keeper, whose role is similar to a Dungeon Master or Game Master, in that they guide the Adventurers through the game, but is different because they are also playing a character, listening to the Adventurers telling the epic story of their incredible deeds.
To play, you will need pens and pencils (an eraser might also be useful), 2 12-sided dice, and a printout of the Character Sheet for each Adventurer.
The "Text-only" file is a formatted text file only.
The "No images" file does include an example character sheet, but omits the ink-heavy cover image and conclusion image, to be more appropriate for printing.
